The secret to a happy day.

Hello friends,

I can’t imagine that anyone is having as bad a day as Kevin Spacey.   Anthony Rapp accused the “House of Cards” star, Kevin Spacey of making sexual advances towards him when he was 14!  The incident happened in 1986 when Rapp was invited by Kevin Spacey to a party as they were both working on a Broadway Production.  Rapp was watching TV in a bedroom when Kevin Spacey placed him on the bed and lay on top of him.  Rapp told BuzzFeed News;

“I still to this day can’t wrap my head around so many aspects of it.  It is just deeply confusing to me”.

Rapp went on and stated that Kevin Spacey “was trying to get with me sexually”.  At the time of the incident, Kevin was 26.  Much criticism has been leveled against Spacey for his overnight statement in which he uses his apology to Rapp as the platform to  come out and tell the world he is gay.

Read Spacey’s full statement below:

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I own him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate, drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.

This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

The world has been rocked by startling revelations of gross and vile sexual predation.  Over 60 women have come out and bravely spoken about the shocking abuse of power by Harvey Weinstein who has for decades been tormenting women.  What is equally shocking is that he has previously settled with other victims and that he arrogantly thought his sordid and lewd acts would never see the light of day.  Oh how the wheel turns….slowly but eventually it does.

So ladies lets focus on the secret to a Happy Day and that is – a great pair of black flat shoes.  I find that if my feet are happy and comfy then I can face anything life throws at me.  If you have an ill fitting pair of shoes on which causes friction and unnecessary rubbing of your toes then it definitely causes my mood to go south and rather quickly.  So if you have something which requires heels wear your flats until the event.  Your feet will thank you and so too will your mood.

Recently went to a podiatrist (foot doctor) for treatment and I asked him which shoes he would recommend given that he works with feet all day long.  His answer was simple – Sketchers.  When I got my first pair of Sketchers and slipped them on my feet it was like giving my feet the greatest gift of all.  The cushion comfort sole is like walking on soft fluffy clouds and the memory foam sole add even more softness and comfort.  My toes which often are at the forefront of my shoe selection abuse were not rubbing but rather happily encased in the stretchy comfort these beauties offered.

So if you want to have happy feet do yourself a favour and invest in a pair of them especially if you do quite a bit of walking during the day.  I have placed a selection of the ones I personally like below.  Trust me you will never struggle with aching, sore, tired feet if you take my word for it.

  1. […] So this week I’ve decided to dedicate all my posts on the perfect capsule closet on shoes and more specifically flat shoes.  As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I used to love wearing heels until I could no longer suffer through the agony of running around in heels all day. Shoes which were once treasured now caused me to want to violently toss them in the garbage.  I guess as we get older one of the things that happens is when it is warmer (and it gets very warm in Cape Town) our feet swell quite a bit.  This was not an affliction I had previously encountered so it took me quite a while to figure out that it was that which was causing the trouble.  So I have already touched on the Sketchers which my Podiatrist recommends here.
